Anabolic steroids

Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are synthetic derivatives of testosterone. Their function is to act as ligands at the androgen receptor, stimulating gene transcription to dramatically increase protein synthesis (muscle building) and inhibit catabolism (muscle breakdown). In short, they manipulate cellular chemistry to maximize muscle growth and recovery.
